How to Make Your Elopement Special and Unique | Inspiration for Eloping

Isn’t it interesting that no matter how old we are or what we’re planning, we always want to be more than average?

It’s not a surprise then that you want to know How to Make Your Elopement Special and Unique!

When I was a bride and still planning my “big” wedding, I toured a popular venue in my town. It was stunning: large open spaces for dancing and neutral walls to go with any decor. It was perfect, yet no matter how much I tried to close my eyes and imagine my own Unique and Special wedding day here, all I could see was the hundreds of other weddings that had taken place in that same spot. Everything was cookie-cutter exact to create the same lovely but similar event.

Elopements can be the exact opposite of that wedding venue because no two have to look alike! Not only do you get your pick of thousands of possible locations, tradition can be pushed back or morphed into something distinctive.

Inspiration for Eloping is found everywhere because no idea is too niche or different.

Let’s begin!

Where to Find Inspiration for Elopements:

First, we have to re-establish the importance of why this is even taking place. As we figure out How to Make Your Elopement Special and Unique, thinking about your relationship and what has brought the two of you to the point of dedicating the rest of your lives to each other will help lead the way.

Use these questions as a starting point to get to the button of what makes you two as a couple different than anyone else:

  • When you have 2-3 free hours in a day to spend together, what do you do?

  • What hobbies or special talents do you two share?

  • What traditions or habits do you two share?

  • What do you laugh about and say that no one else but you two will ever understand?

  • What were the moments in your relationship that you experienced the most growth?

  • If the story of your relationship was going to be turned into a movie, what important moments would have to be included?

  • What did you do on your first date?

  • What is your love language and how do you show each other love each day?

From Inspiration to Activity Planning

As you view your relationship from a more outside perspective, you’ll probably start noticing things that pop up when answering multiple questions. Keep those ideas in mind as that might mean that’s something of value to you and adding it to your Elopement day will help make it unforgettable.

For instance, if you two host monthly board game nights because you first started flirting over a game of Monopoly, what wouldn’t be more perfect than pulling out Uno on top of a mountain for some friendly competition or ending the evening with a candlelight dinner and Scrabble?

If you grew up on a farm with horses and one of your favorite memories was seeing your partner try riding a horse for the first time, imagine how lovely a morning ride with the mist of the morning still hanging to the ground would be?

If you both love writing, maybe even have been published several times between the two of you, writing love notes to each other and sharing them as your vows just seem like the natural thing to do.
